THE WORLD MATHEMATICS CHAMPIONSHIPS ®

(SEAMC and NEAMC)

Participants enage in fun, collaborative assessment-as-learning® cultural experiences all around the world!

THE WMC EXPERIENCE

THE FIVE ASSESSED SKILLS CATEGORIES ARE:

  • Challenge - because we want to be the best that we can be
  • Knowledge - because we need secure foundations to communicate, collaborate, challenge, strategise and create better!
  • Collaboration - because we all need others to help us achieve our dreams
  • Strategy - because visionary thinking leads to more profound success
  • Creativity - because we enjoy being humans instead of robots
Individuals focus on the Challenge rounds alone.
Collaboration teams are in a maximum of 3s.

Some rounds are subject specific skills and procedures - knowledge intensive.
Other rounds are focused towards planing and executing a
Strategy.
There are rounds that depend upon
creativity - developing new and imaginative ideas.

Each Strategy, Creativity and knowledge skill category has one round that is engaged in alone, and the other in a team.

*Up to three optional rounds can form another
Communication category involving teams in a maximum of 3s - because we need to be able to convince others that our beliefs are sound.

Leaderboards will show rankings within each category.

This unique platform enables participants to network and build lasting friendships and life-long memories - usually the main highlight of their schooling years.

Payment is made directly through the secure online gateway, Stripe. Bank transfer invoices incure an additional 10% admin charge for this extra personalisation.
Once registered, more practise material is available to registered student participant accounts.

We focus upon FOUR of the UN Sustainable Development Goals:
  • 4 Quality Education
  • 5 Gender Equality
  • 10 Reduced Inequality
  • 12 Responsible consumption and production
We believe summative assessment should be a demonstration of depth-in-learning and be inclusive; not elitism nor speed at doing superficial algorithms of difficult subject content.

If you would like to join our illustrious question writing team, please get in touch to discuss specifics!

FOR GOLDEN TICKET INVITEES

CONGRATULATIONS Golden Ticket holders - this is where you come to find out about the next

World Mathematics Championships® Finals!
This comprises TWELVE rounds across a whole week within a University College residential setting. What else would you expect if you'd like to be crowned the winner of the World Mathematics Championships®?

Golden Ticket winners are invited to these finals as individuals, and schools may also make it a staffed trip if they prefer. After accepting the Golden Ticket, the registration form contains a section to enter the names of friends they know are also going and would like to be in Collaboration Teams with.

As spaces are limited and we are required to confirm all bookings many months in advance, all Golden Tickets need to be fully accepted (payment transferred) BY THE END OF THE MONTH OF YOUR REGIONAL QUALIFIER, OR TWO WEEKS LATER, whichever is longer.

You should arrive during the morning of the first day and depart during the morning of the final day, with your own travel and medical insurance and tourist visa for the country. We can provide letters of invitation for visa purposes.

SENIOR level Sunday 23rd - Saturday 29th June 2024: Queen Mary University of London, United Kingdom

We will be staying in single ensuite rooms within the Mile End campus on the Eastern edge of central London (zone 2) along a river front. Throughout the week, we will be using University of London facilities across two campuses. Finalists need to make their own transfers to and from the University at the start and end of the event.
The participation fee of only GBP2000 (or SGD3500 by credit card) each includes accommodation, meals and resources for all rounds and excursions throughout the seven days.
The deadline for completing the payment is 31st March, and then the registration form is 30th April. The pre-departure webinar link will then be shared with participants for 1st June, 17:30 UTC+8.

WMC Jun Finals 2023 Schedule

The most important preparation you could do is having:
  • confidence in articulating conceptual understanding of the mathematics you have experienced so far, verbally as well as in writing.
  • the awareness and skills to manage diverse team dynamics (in stressful situations).
Most rounds are very similar in style as experienced during Regional Qualifiers. As for the extra new rounds:
  • Thinking about how you would approach this problem might prove useful.
  • Similarly, it is wise to engage with data analysis methods.
  • Knowledge of the tools used to articulate logical arguements and make formal mathematical proofs.
And most important for the whole week, remembering to smile!

How to accept your Golden Ticket
